The CQC carries out unannounced inspections of all care homes, acute hospitals and domiciliary care services in England at least once a year, to judge whether or not the essential standards are being met. It carries out inspections of other services less often. All of the inspections are 'unannounced' unless there is a good reason to let the provider know that an inspection is going to take place.

The GMC is an independent organisation that helps to protect patients and improve medical education and practice across the UK. It decides which doctors are qualified to work here and oversees UK medical education and training. It sets the standards that doctors need to follow, and makes sure that they continue to meet these standards throughout their careers. It takes action when it is believed that a doctor may be putting the safety of patients, or the public’s confidence in doctors, at risk.

Healthwatch England has statutory powers to ensure the voice of the consumer is strengthened and heard by those who commission, deliver and regulate health and care services. Healthwatch is unique in that its sole purpose is to understand the needs, experiences and concerns of people who use services and to speak out on their behalf.

The KCCG up of the 27 GP practices working across Kingston and is responsible for a budget of approximately £200 million which is used to secure hospital, mental health and community services. Community services include services provided by district nurses or physiotherapists.
The Local Government Ombudsman looks at complaints about councils and some other authorities and organisations, including education admissions appeal panels and adult social care providers (such as care homes and home care providers). It is a free service. Our job is to investigate complaints in a fair and independent way - we do not take sides.

NICE's role is to improve outcomes for people using the NHS and other public health and social care services. It produces evidence based guidance and advice for health, public health and social care practitioners. NICE also develops quality standards and performance metrics for those providing and commissioning health, public health and social care services. It also provides a range of informational services for commissioners, practitioners and managers across the spectrum of health and social care.
Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. We inspect and regulate services that care for children and young people, and services providing education and skills for learners of all ages. Ofsted is a non-ministerial department.

The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman makes final decisions on complaints that have not been resolved by the NHS in England and UK government departments and other UK public organisations. We do this fairly.

South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust was formed in 1994. The Trust has, for over 160 years, provided mental health services.
